49th Street Extension
The 49th Street Extension is an urban connector street being extended to serve a growing commercial area within Sioux Falls. The location of the roadway provided some challenging drainage designs, as three separate watersheds exit drain through the corridor. Storm sewer designs were based on future land-use conditions. Intake placements and spread design criteria were in accordance with the City of Sioux Falls drainage design criteria. This project included the design of a new alignment for a new four lane divided street, grading, asphalt paving, concrete paving, concrete sidewalk/trail, storm sewer, water main, sanitary sewer repairs, street lighting, traffic signalization, pavement striping, relocation of private utilities, public outreach and involvement, and right-of-way acquisition.
Responsible for the project management and design of the roadway geometrics, watermain, sanitary sewer, storm sewer, and lighting. Coordinated with the City of Sioux Falls, landowners, developers, and private utility companies during design, easement acquisition, and construction.
