Two HR Green Employees Start Own Business

Sept 18, 2012, Jodi Schwan - Sioux Falls Business Journal

Two former co-workers at HR Green Inc. have opened their own business. Phil Gundvaldsonand Chad Hanisch started Infrastructure Design Group Inc.

The two will offer civil municipal and transportation consulting services.

“My background and Phil’s are somewhat similar,” Hanisch said. “Roadway design, utility design that would include drainage, water, wastewater. We’ve done some site development projects and park projects.”

Their work includes the current improvements to North Cliff Avenue from Benson Road to 60th Street North and Marion Road improvements south of 26th Street. The two have worked for several cities, including Sioux Falls, Harrisburg, Centerville, Humboldt, Colton, Elk Point and Vermillion.

The projects have mostly been in the public sector, although they have experience with commercial projects and land development. Both have thought about running their own businesses for a while, Hanisch said. “And it just came together,” he added.

For now they’re working out a home office while they wrap up projects for HR Green and do business development for their new company. They eventually plan to move into an office and add staff.

“We’ll start small and, as we get the work, we’ll add. My long-term ideal size is anywhere from

five to 10,” Hanisch said.
